V-E-T visit for sneezing kitten and cat!

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend both Bacon and Eggy started to sneeze, I washed bedding in case of mites, but that didn't help. Bacon then had conjunctivitus, which cost £29.50 from the V-E-T because they charge a £25 consultation fee and the cream was less than a fiver! Bit peeved about this, but what can you do. You can't buy online without a prescription!

Anyway, a week goes by, and Eggy starts with runny eyes and nose and sneezing gets worse for both cats, I took them both to the V-E-T yesterday and Bacon was running a temperature and was listless, just letting the vet poke and prod him, even the thermometer up the bum didn't make him flinch! The vetlady thinks he has cat chlamydia and not cat flu.

Then it was Eggys turn, and he was bouncing around the table and the vetlady had to hold him down at the back and I had to hold his front whilst he had thermometer up the bum - he didn't like that!

BIG NEWS: When the vetlady was listening to Eggys chest, she diagnosed a heart murmur! This is when there is a small hole in the heart and oxygenated blood mixes with deoxygenated blood and may cause tiredness when he gets older, however she said it was a very small murmur and as he's only 9 weeks old his body is still forming and he could grow out of it. She also said the vast majority of cats that do have a heart murmur never show any symptoms.

So, when Eggy graduates with honors from the University, I'm going to nominate him for a bravery award and wear my best hat..... (lol)

Anyway, I guess you are wanting some new kitten photos? OK, here we go. More kitty blog next month.

Happy New Year from Bacon the kitten

Hello and I hope you had a lovely time bringing in the new year 2010, as you can see I'm totally relaxed about the whole thing, on new year's day I got lots of treats including grated cheese from pizza, fresh salmon and even tuna mixed in with my kitty food.

Ma caught me sitting square on the bathroom scales yesterday, just before she weighed herself and sobbed at the weight she had put on over Christmas. I must be the same as now I'm 10lb in weight, about 4kg, and still not letting Sarnie have any peace, even though we now sleep on Ma's bed at the same time, and feed next to each other, she still won't play!! She keeps swearing and hissing and boxing me and all I want to do is play chase. Not fair.

In all the shopping that was done at Christmas I found my new favourite - brown paper bags!! They are brilliant! I have a collection of 3 so far, a Bench bag a Primark bag and of course a potato sack!! I jump in and out for ages, this pleases Ma as that means she don;t have to play with me when she comes in from work. In goes a ping pong ball and that's me set for 20 minutes at least, bashing about in the bag and chasing shadows..

Happy new year to you all, lots of love and kitten bites..

Christmas kitten!!

Well, she had to do it, didn't she?

Ma went into Wilkos and bought some cheap tinsel and a Santa kitty costume from the RSPCA charity shop. Of course, it's not my style at all, and although I tolerated the silly cape, I pont blank refused to wear the ridiculous Santa hat. I have standards, and no matter how many tuna treats I was offered, I did my kitty-reverse-gear to rid myself of the daft appendage.

Nevertheless I was coerced into having my photo taken, still licking my lips from the overflowing amount of treats (bribery) and I heard a rumour that I now feature on Ma's personalised photo upload Christmas card box set.

Deep joy.

Anyway, even though Ma was away for Christmas she has a lovely kind friend called Kay who fed me and Sarnie over Christmas and we even had tinned salmon on Christmas day!!

Much love and bunny kicks!

Hey look at this mancat! Bacon unfazed by castration

Well, V-E-T made me yowl all the way there in the car, Pa said I was trembling when they took my hearbeat. I am not agressive, just bouncy and confident, but this knocked me sideways. Caged for a while I was crying, wondering where I was, lots of calls from other cats, next thing I was being shaved on my arm, and I was asleep.

I woke up, a bit sore "down there" - Pa collected me and I yowled all the way home (2 streets)

As soon as I got home, Sandwich was about - YAY - time to chase!! Pa also treated me to a play session where he worre gloves and I bit them good and proper.

Ma came home, and fussed me, I had tinned tuna, and lots of love, but I really wasn't in the mood, I wanted to play play play! Where's that other cat? I'll get her I will.

Ma went shopping today at the PDSA and bought a water fountain. I loved it, Ma plugged it in and showed me it, I had tones of fun pawing the water stream, I am fascinated. I really don't drink water, I am special and I have goat's milk which is lactose free. Sarnie drinks water but she looked at it as if it was an alien construction.

Here's a photo of me getting my paws wet

Kitten gets stranded on garage roof Next Door

Ma scoops me up and puts me in my favourite shoe box, I am too big! The red kitty ball and string keeps me happy on my back like a baby. Ma kisses my furry round belly and mumbles human words, and takes a photo with her phone.

Well, I am always waking Ma in the morning. Her alarm goes off at 6.30am, but I can tell the time and wake her up just before this. I am a warm mouth and sheathed teeth around a big toe. Far better than a 'beep' I think. Ma lets me bite a little, I am waiting for the cry of forbidden land (I know I'm not allowed to bite toes but I still do) the cry of "NooO!" from Ma,, follwed by a "ShhhH" noise. This means I have gone too far....

I am biting Ma's toes, leaping up the corner of the bottom of the bed, my head underneath the duvet: I know the toes are in there somewhere!

Ah - toes .. found them. Now bite them, when I bite them I get played with, the feet shuffle wildy (and you know how much I like feet) game on! I bite harder and just to add effect, I wrap my arms around the feet. Not Letting GO

Ma pulls her feet deep in the duvet, in a foetal position, toes out of reach. Well, job done as a bitey alarm clock - I'm going to go out my kitten door in the kitchen to play outside.

Ma gets up at half 6, in the meantime I have been round the front of Next Door and (it gets sketchy now) got on a really high roof of Next Door's garage. Ma has 5 minutes before catching the train, and had already put the 2 bowls of breakfast out. Sarnie had chowed down, I was still outside.

I heard Ma shout, but she was at the front of the house, I was round the back, I answered "ma-a"". It came out "mew"

I could hear her - "Bacon"
I answered "mew"
Again, and again: "Bacon"
I was repeating myself "mew ma-a, meww"

Finally Ma stopped and listened, and located my cries. There I was, looking down at Ma, I forgot how I got up it was so long ago.

Remember that I have the attention span of a kitten.

Ma walked away, I was thinking "What?" but I remember, it's true, I won't come to my name - only if the person is out out of sight. She means it, she goes back into the house. No? No.... "Meh meow ma-a"

I don't know what to do.
I hear a scrapey sound, just before I see Ma with some stepladders, I watch as Ma gets on the ladder, and I see her arm, her hand, she grabs me by that kitty skin scruff at the back of my neck, I purrrrrrrr with delight when I am popped onto her shoulder.. safe at last.

Ma shows me my kitty breakfast, and runs for the train. I munch away, thinking what all the fuss was about.

Kitten to sleek young cat

Oooh look at me .. so fat and so sleek

My Ma says I am too risky picking fights with all the bigger cats on the street, now I can get out the catflap every day whilst she's at work, I can play, play, play

Sandwich still isn't sure about me, she has somehow figured out that I'm not scarey as I was, and that when I jump on her tail I don't use my claws, I'm, a kitten with all-pounce-and-no-trousers. I just want to play.

I can't wait for the day when we rough and tumble and play proper. I'm sure it won't be long.

Anyway, in the meantime I'll have a snooze, and dream of the things that I can present to Ma. So far I have bought in a wooden peg, and the day after (randomly) an empty snail shell in a sweetie wrapper. I know she loves that.
